  • Around eight hours a week; the six projects are substantial by design

About this course

Hiring managers do not read a list of technologies, they open one repository and skim it for thirty seconds. This course is engineered around that reality. You build six projects that survive that skim: real problems, real deployments, commit histories that read like work, and README files that explain a decision instead of listing dependencies.

The projects escalate deliberately. A command-line tool published to a package registry. A data dashboard consuming a public API with caching and graceful degradation. A full-stack application with authentication, roles and file uploads. A real-time collaborative feature built on WebSockets. An integration service that talks to a third-party API with retries, idempotency and a webhook receiver. Finally an open-source contribution to an existing project, from issue triage through a merged pull request.

Every project ships. That means a deployment with TLS, continuous integration running tests and linting, error tracking, a demo account so a reviewer never faces an empty screen, and documentation covering architecture, trade-offs and known limitations. The closing modules cover writing about your work, presenting projects in an interview, and answering the question every reviewer asks: what would you change if you rebuilt it.
